You are so incredibly supportive, all the time, … there’s “just” nothing I can say.

And you’re so right about people not understanding the impact they have on others with “simple” gestures. When I worked at a veterinary hospital, I consoled a client after she said good bye to her beloved dog. I ran into to her more than a year later. She told me I gave her such comfort that day with what I said to her, she’d never forget me. I barely remembered the conversation … We really don’t know who we’ll impact with our wonderfulness. But we are wonderful … every day … even when we don’t realize it.

We are taught to undersell ourselves from a very young age. “Don’t brag”, Don’t be boastful” … It never quite goes away. Sad. We are ALL special and unique yet we seem to forget so easily.

It’s amazing what your co-worker said. We never know what seemingly simple words or small bits of kindness will do to bring someone up from a dark place.

I knew someone like that you used to work at a coffee shop that I went to frequently. He listened when my marriage was falling apart and when my Mom first got sick. We barely knew each other but his listening made all the difference to me.
