Lara -

THANK-YOU for visiting.

This is so ironic and demonstrates the incredible wonderfulness of social media. Chris Brogan's article was about Glynne Soaps (http://www.glynnesoaps.com/), a business run by good friends of mine, here in Wilmington, NC. Gayle and Jenn, the owners, and I "met" through a mutual friend via Facebook and started a virtual friendship.

They're animal lovers, like me and we soon discovered they had donated a gift basket to the silent auction for Monty's Home Pet Expo. http://www.montyshome.org/
Of all the rescue groups in the area, they donated to Monty's Home. I'm on the Board of Directors for that organization. Small world.

They are both ardent supports of our rescue and pet education programs. They come to most of the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program Meet and Greets and bring @wrigleysoapguru with them.

We tweet together in between IRL (in real life) meetings.

Fast forward to Chris Brogan's article about their incredible online presence:
http://www.chrisbrogan.com/glynne-soaps-beer-flavored-soap-and-online-presence/
and the screen shot you saw. Ironically, the tweet he snapped was giving the link to the newspaper article about the orphaned possums I rescued. We all loved the fact that out of all things he could have snapped, it was the possum tweet -- front and center.

And now, the fact that the screen shot drew a comment to my blog is astounding and a true testament to the power of social media. I'm lovin' it!

Since you asked, here are the links to not one, but two articles about the possums and me -- also made possible by a Twitter connection.

This is the first article published in print and online in early June:
http://www.starnewsonline.com/article/20090601/ARTICLES/906019963/1004?Title=Opossum-mom-I-feel-like-I-m-raising-future-speed-bumps-

And this is the follow-up, complete with video, covering the release:
http://www.starnewsonline.com/article/20090626/ARTICLES/906269966?Title=Nurtured-opossums-released-back-into-wild

Thank-you Lara. You made my week!

Great blog you have here - just found it thanks to a photo/screen grab of Twitter on Chris Brogan's site. I'm so glad I'm not the only blogcrastinator as I struggle with that myself. And I would LOVE to hear more (and see pics!) about your possum babies.

Jeff --

Thanks for your kind words. It's sooooo easy to get distracted in our information-heavy, overly-scheduled society. It's nice to know someone out there has your back, helping you stay focused. Even if it's only a casual "How's it going?"

You're right. It does take a village, although, some days, for me, it takes more than a village. It takes an entire city!

Thanks for being a skyscraper in my city of support!

Very sound advice! I love the concept of broadcasting goals. It works with weight loss and exercise, too. I'm an avid cyclist and I've told friends of my training goals and now many start conversations with me with the simple question, "How's the training going?"
Even though they're not going to thunk me for an excused-laced answer for not training, I feel accountable to them. I like telling them that it's going great and I've increased, improved, progressed. I even share my goals with a few cyclists on Twitter. I like the thought of giving them a new update on progress and, in return, getting the "virtual slap on the back." It really does take a village!
Thanks for sharing, Dawn!
